Philosophy of the School
MT Advantage Career Center opens its doors to any and all who desire to promote and educate themselves in the field of medical transcription. This will be accomplished by an ongoing commitment on our part to provide the most thorough, up-to-date, and accurate medical transcription training available in the market today. Students can expect quality instruction and support from faculty and staff from the moment they begin the program, through job assistance after graduation from our advanced MT course.
History of MT Advantage
Although MT Advantage was founded in 2003, this course of study was first envisioned by Margery Hinman in 1999 when it became apparent there was a lack of qualified medical transcriptionists in the United States. An entrepreneur by heart and a Certified Medical Transcriptionist, Margery envisioned a well-rounded, intense training program as a result of owning her own medical transcription service since 1999 and has seen many deficiencies in newly graduated MTs. Having started in the career of medical transcription in 1981, Margery is also a CMT instructor with public college-level teaching experience in the field of medical transcription. In addition, she has taught private students and has mentored dozens of others over the years.
Today, Margery co-owns several transcription services and is dedicated towards helping those in this industry to reach their goals. In 2004, her private students were transferred into the school, have since graduated, and are now employed as medical transcriptionists.
In summary, our founder's experience, expertise, and vision has brought forth the program known today as MT Advantage. We believe it is second to none -- and so do our graduates and students.
Enrollment Requirements
Any U.S. citizen, 18 years of age or older, who expresses the desire and motivation is eligible for admission. MT Advantage Career Center reserves the right to evaluate special cases and refuse enrollment when such refusal is in the best interest of the school or the student.
It is the policy of MT Advantage Career Center and its associates to maintain and promote equal employment and educational opportunities without regard to race, color, sex or age, religion, disability, national origin or other non-merit factors; however, only U.S. citizens are eligible for MT training at this time.

Our Founder - An Experienced College MT instructor, Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT), and Successful Medical Transcription Service Owner and Consultant
MT Advantage was founded by Margery Hinman, CEO, CMT, an experienced college MT instructor, co-owner of several successful U.S. medical transcription services, and a published writer. She has done considerable consulting for medical practices and hospitals and is one of the owners of one of the largest medical transcription services in Eastern Virginia. Margery has been mentoring private students and other individuals for a number of years, and most of her students are successfully employed in the field of medical transcription.
